The Development of Message Delivery in The Mass Media

What is the most powerful weapon? the most powerful weapons are not firearms, tanks, missiles or nukes, but the most powerful weapons are the mass media. How can the mass media be said to be the most powerful weapon? because the mass media is very influential to society, even from the mass media a country can be independent, conduct revolutions, coups, and overthrow the throne therefore that makes it one of the most powerful weapons. Mass media is also often used to pour inspiration and opinions on things.

However, the form of mass media function of the mass media still has a big influence on society. in 1455 a European print mass media was discovered by Johannes Gutenberg. this had a big influence on the mass media in those days, because before the print media was found making sheets, books, still using manual techniques so that it took a very long time and made inefficient in conveying information.

With the existence of print media, the mass media has progressed very rapidly and the emergence of mass media such as newspapers, newspapers, magazines, which contains many things related to politics, advertising and economics, tragedy, etc. Print media is also often used to create social movements in the masses. Then in 1986 italian scientist Guglielmo Marconi patented his findings, a wireless telegraph using two circuits and his findings were the beginning of the forerunner of radio. At first the radio was used by maritimes to deliver messages via morse code to other ships. Then the radio is also used to send passwords – sandi dank ode – codes to convey war strategies. But in 1915, David Sarnoff began using radio as a means of mass communication, le De Forrest later through his radio broadcasting experiments, which had broadcast the United States presidential election campaign in 1916, so he was known as a pioneer of radio broadcasting.

At that time the radio became a new mass media to convey information to the public. The difference between Radio and print media is that radio cannot see visualizations such as photos or images such as print media, radio delivers messages over sound. The advantage of radio is that information delivery is much faster than print media. Because the radio does not use the process of printing and spreading conventionally but through certain waves so that it is faster many times than print media.

Then in 1925 a scientist named John Logie Baird perfected his invention, and demonstrated his 1926 discovery to the public and 50 scientists. Baird’s invention was a television that displayed an image through optics and displayed highly detailed movements, and Beird continued to develop his invention until in 1927 television his inventions could display the sound and movement of images. Then television continued to be developed and became a form of media of the time that displays audio and visuals unlike print media that only convey visuals or radio that only displays audio.

Not only that television is also fast in conveying information, this is the development of technology in the mass media. Of course this greatly affects the lives of mankind with the delivery of information very quickly and more widely in reaching the scope of society this makes a drastic increase in the pace of the economy and politics. In 1969 a company called ARPA under underesth made a project called ARPANET, a computer network, ARPA itself was part of the American Department of Defense. Arpanet project continues to be developed until now, and today we know it as the Internet. Internet in the kiti era is not limited to computers only but penetrates all modern tools such as televisions, handheld telephones, even to motor vehicles. The Internet can reach anything and provide any even communication. Mass media also entered the internet network which means the media of the time again developed and changed. Mass media in today’s era not only displays audio or visuals but communication and interaction directly through social media. with a very wide internet network and can be reached by anyone of course facilitate the delivery of information on social media facilities even with a matter of seconds information can be conveyed to the public.

But not only developed until there anyone can convey information to anyone and even spread opinions, this of course makes a lot of excitement in the delivery of information because it is too free. Because of the uncontrolled media of the time, many give rise to fake news or better known as hoaxes. Usually hoaxes are spread for the benefit of a particular party in a purpose. From time to time the mass media continues to develop both from the way of delivery and its means.

But the development of technology and the free delivery of information makes the public have to be careful in conveying information, because whatever information we choose will affect many things in us as a society. Therefore, we must wisely respond to information spread on social media because anyone can provide information on social media and manipulate that information for the benefit and purpose of certain parties so that we are ultimately the victims of that information.

How To: Add a Local Prize to a National Contest

Most* National contests allow you to add a local prize and to choose a local winner for it!  Follow these steps to do so, but be sure to let us know that you’re doing so by filling out this jotform.  In the (hopefully very rare!) event we need to republish a contest and overwrite local changes, we must know who to contact!

If you do not have access to Triton’s AMP Loyalty admin for your station, please submit a service desk ticket to request access, making sure to note the stations you need access to, and Cumulus Web Support will get you set up ASAP.

Please Note: These instructions apply only to web contests run through AMP Loyalty/Contesting.  They are not applicable to Text to Win or On-Air contesting.

* UGC contests, such as those which allow contestants to upload a photo, do not have the ability to add a local prize.  You may still pull a local player report, read on for details

HINT: If you add a checkbox field, don’t make it required unless you actually mean they are required to check the box!  For example, if you’re adding the checkbox as an opt-in for a local promotion, you wouldn’t want to make that required.
  7. Click the “Designer” tab.  Here you can add information about your local prize to the entry page itself.  Click on the preview pane to activate the editor, then click on the first paragraph under the heading to edit your text which displays “Click to edit Body Text”.
